Rumination is a solo that reflects upon the relationship between a woman and her obsession with image, beauty, and perfection. This solo takes place around, on, and in a Lyra Hoop which becomes a symbol for the obsession as well as ultimate perfection. During the piece the dancer climbs in and falls out of the lyra hoop revealing the struggle of reaching for something unobtainable. The dancer consistently puts her hair up into a bun to pull it back out, never satisfied with her image. Rumination emphasizes the struggle between the fixation of perfection while longing for self-fulfillment.
